The History of First Person Shooter Video Games

First Person Shooter video games, more commonly called FPSs, have always been considered violent medium, but back when they were first being made the people being shot started out being quite cartoonish and unrealistic like in Wolfenstein. However  from 3-D rendering in Quake to the rag doll effects and blood splatter from the aliens of the Halo universe, the video game industry has been advancing the realism of their FPSs. Ultimately leading to situations where something that is meant to be a game can be taken far more seriously.

Drones Mrk. II

I have been talking about the precarious slope that drones have been going down as of late. I know that some people may argue that armed drones can mean security for the american people but... that is also a very terrifying prospect. Even though I believe that a lot of the people that support and run the drone programs think they are looking out for the American people, there needs to be the full judicial process for american citizens. The government is not at war with its citizens and it shouldn't act like it is. Any armed drones over america will just oppress the people, knowing that you could be killed at any moment from a missile or bomb dropped from a drone could cause panic, I know that scares me... I feel that other means of taking care of a threat should be used, and lethal force should only be taken if the suspect is armed in some way and able to injure or kill any police that would be apprehending them.

Do I think Drones Should Kill?

If a person has committed a crime in such a way that effects American lives or security then yes drones should be allowed to hunt a citizen down.  A person that is for sure known by the government to be a terrorist or criminal. I am speaking of a person that has crossed to the dark side, terrorist, or supporting an organization that wants to harm America and American lives. Drones should not be allowed to spy, tract or kill innocent citizens. American citizens should have the right to a proper trial and be allowed to state their side. I believe they should be innocent until proven guilty.

ARKANSAS PASSES A 12-WEEK LIMIT IN ABORTION LAW

Last week Arkansas adopted the country’s most restrictive ban on abortion on Wednesday March 6th. At 12 weeks of pregnancy, when a fetal heartbeat can typically be detected by abdominal ultrasound, the woman is no longer able to have an abortion. The law contradicts the limits established by Supreme Court decisions, which give women a right to an abortion until the fetus is viable outside the womb, usually around 24 weeks into pregnancy, and abortion rights groups promised a quick lawsuit to block it. Personally in the USA and in my country (for class) I would continue the law that allows abortions for up to 24 weeks. There are plenty of reasons why women need emergency abortions past 12 weeks and I don’t see any reason why it should change. Legal experts predicted that the Supreme Court was very unlikely to agree to hear such a case because of how it goes against women’s rights. I am pro-abortion, for the right situation. I am ashamed that some women can use abortions for birth control methods, and that should not be allowed (though it is personal preference) but I think that women in general should all have the right to abort a child up to 24 weeks into pregnancy. You cannot sit here and tell me that the baby in the womb has any feelings or memories of any kind of life. To me a baby does not breathe until it is born and I believe that adoption messes a kid up more than not bringing it into the world at all. A few facts from the article I found interesting;
-Measures have been adopted by the dozens in the past few years, including waiting periods, parental consent for minors, ultrasound requirements and stringent regulations aimed at making it harder for abortion clinics to operate.
-Ten states have pushed time limits for abortions own to 20 weeks into pregnancy on the theory, disputed by most medical experts, that a fetus can feel pain by then.
-A 12-week ban would affect an estimated 12 to 15 percent of abortions nationwide.
-In Arkansas in 2011, 4033 abortions were preformed; 815 of them, or 20 percent were at 12 weeks or more after the last menstrual period, according to state data.
“It sets Arkansas back several decades in the eyes of the nation and the world…It shows an utter disregard for women and their ability to make important personal decisions about their own reproductive health.”

Kepler Constitution

Kepler Constitution

Tribal Society
Chief is our foreign diplomat, makes all final decisions, after counsel of the shamans who meet with reps. from each of the 3 districts.

Each region is governed the same with the same basic Tribal Constitutional Laws.  Anyone found breaking laws is subject to the punishment prescribed by the shaman in which the laws he governs have been broken.  The chief makes the final decision regarding carrying out of punishments.

If district tribal members share concerns, and if a majority should decide a law needs to be proposed, district reps. will bring the proposed law before a council of the shamans, who will then privately weigh the law, vote, then enact the law district wide.

The chief can still strike down district laws he deems poor for the district or country, but, his decisions can be overturned by a unanimous vote of the shamans.

No campaining.  Tribes people are required to do a write in vote based on community merit.  Chief is voted for every 10 years.  Shamans ever 5 years.  District reps. every 1 year.  Person with the popular vote wins.

The court system is as follows:
Small offenses - Extra labor/public humiliation
Stealing - Finger cut off
Rape - Penis/Vagina mutilated
Murder - Imprisoned in public cage left to the tribes people to deal with

These punishments are handed out by the shamans.  If someone steals, the shaman of resource/finance/wealth suggest punishment to the chief.  If the chief okays it, the shaman cuts a finger off.  The chief can take pity, and change the punishment as he sees fit, as the chief is a wise man whose opinion is widely regarded.

Taxes are levied so that each able bodied worker provides a set amount of finance/resources each month.  There is free healthcare, free school, and the taxes pay for these things.  The tribes people are okay with this because they all take care of one another, and are happy paying more taxes, if many of the things in their lives are paid for with those taxes, such as school and healthcare.  If a person is not able to work, they must be able to prove they are unable to work, or be under the age of 14.

Taxation

Taxation of the people of Kepler will be overseen by the appointed Shaman of Commerce and Wealth and enforced by the mighty Chief of Kepler. The individual regions of Oort may vote on what method of collecting the taxes will be used, as long as the minimum total tax rate of "High" is met for this simulation eg. income, property or sales taxes. The higher taxes are for the greater good of the planet and for the betterment of our great people. With the increased resources of the higher taxes we will become an unstoppable military force to be reckoned with. We will finally drive the alien religious fanatics from our new land.
